A day after MJ's passing, Stevie pays his respect to the King with an encore of Jackson's hits. How bitter sweet the sound.

Memory Man presents Wu-Tang vs D.I.T.C. (Mixtape) [Download]

I found this one right here on DJ Step One's Blog - props for that!

Dope new project from Memory Man. He's taken acapellas and instrumentals from the Wu Tang and DITC catalogues and mixed them up with each other, so you get Big L, OC and Lord Finesse over some classic RZA creations and Meth, Ghost and GZA over timeless beats by Showbiz and Diamond D amongst others. Simple but effective and flawlessly executed.

Prodigy gets the last laugh…yeah, he rocked an MJ jacket. What?

Via MissInfo.tv:

(XXLMag posted this image from Jay-Z’s infamous Hot97 Summerjam screen attack on Mobb Deep’s Prodigy back in 2001)

Kudos to XXLmag for thinking outside the box by reaching out to Prodigy in jail for his reaction to Michael Jackson’s passing. Seems that P felt much vindication upon watching this Sunday’s BET awards….

“[Jamie Foxx] said everybody used to dress like Michael Jackson when they was a little kid…You know I like that part ’cause certain niggas ‘Oh yeah Prodigy had the beaded jacket on when he was 8 years old,’ like tryna discredit me like there’s something wrong with that. Nah ain’t nothing wrong with that and everybody knows and it’s sad that Michael Jackson had to die but now everybody’s professing ‘oh I loved Michael Jackson when I was little too.’ Oh now it’s okay.”

“Rest in peace, Michael Jackson…He did a lotta things I ain’t agree with later on in life but overall that was a good muthafucka right there. That was an excellent person, with his music and what he contributed to the music world. Perfect, excellent.

Jay-Z Confirms, Explains Sony & Atlantic Deals

Billboard’s Mariel Concepcion recently spoke to Hov and got some clarification on the deals he just closed with Atlantic and Sony.

“Sony is Roc Nation. That’s where Roc Nation’s going through,” Jay-Z told Billboard.com on Friday (June 29).

As for the deal he recently signed with Atlantic, he clarifies that it is a one-off situation for his upcoming album, “Blueprint 3,” slated for a September 11th release.

“That’s pretty much just for this specific album. Roc Nation — we’re experts in marketing and making records. But we do distribution deals,” he says. “On this one, we’re working directly with the Atlantic staff, which is Julie [Greenwald], Lyor [Cohen], Kevin [Liles] and Kyse [Mike Kyser]. For the rest of the Roc Nation artists, we did a distribution deal with Sony.

Sony must have brought a pretty sweet deal to the table for Jay to pass up a reunion with Lyor, Kev Liles and Mike Kyser. I mean, just look at all of the bromance oozing out of that pic up there.
